Mitchell, SD - Home of the Corn Palace (http://www.cornpalace.org)
How could folks from the home of the Louisiana Corn Festival miss out of the Corn Palace?
Not much to do in the area around the Corn Palace but inside is pretty cool.  Outside walls of building are decorated each year with corn and other grains in very elaborated artist designs.  This year’s theme is Sports.  Photos of every year since 1892 show some amazing work.  There are also hands on exhibits including a virtual reality corn harvester.  Anything you can imagine corn-related is for sale in the basketball court sized gift shop - located on the basketball court. Excellent rest stop off I-90.  Full sized replica of Lewis & Clarks’s keelboat as well as tents and supplies from the expedition.  Beautiful views of the Missouri River.
First of many “Beware of Snakes” signs on trip.  Kids wanted to know why none of us have those signs in our backyards. lol Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center, Chamberlain, SD (http://www.chamberlainsd.org/area-culture/lewis-and-clark-interpretive-center)

Oklahoma Joe’s BBQ, Kansas City. 12 hour drive from Louisiana to find hour long line on a Thursday evening. So worth it…best BBQ in best BBQ city!  Thanks Chef Bob at Broadmoor Bistro (http://broadmoorbistro.smsd.org/default.aspx) for the recommendation!

Full slab rib dinner, Z-Man sandwich and Pulled Pork all rated very high with our group.

Don’t let the gas station location fool you…these folks can make some BBQ!

Rolling out from The RV Shop, Baton Rouge. Modern day wagon train heading West.

This is our 2nd long trip in RV Shop rentals.  The question most asked is “how expensive is it to take an RV trip?”  These rigs are very high end, diesel pushers.  Daily rates range from $225-$400.  We, being novice RV’ers, like that these rental units are in “showroom condition”…since they are all part of the pre-owned inventory at RV Shop.  In the event we do have any questions (like, how do I get the satellite TV working on the rear bedroom?), the staff is available 24 hrs a day via cell and Skype.  We can’t recommend these guys highly enough.  We priced out many other options including the big national brand RV rental companies and the RV Shop folks beat them all soundly in customer service, price and quality of RV’s.  http://rvshoponline.com/rental-program/
